Road Freight

Full Truckload (FTL)

Full Truckload, or FTL, is a service dedicated to a single client’s shipment large enough to require the exclusive use of an entire trailer. Because the truck is dedicated to one shipment from origin to destination, it offers the advantages of faster transit times, fewer handlings which reduces the risk of damage, and greater security since no other shippers’ goods are on board.

This method is typically chosen for large shipments, generally over 15,000 pounds or when the freight occupies more than 10 pallet spaces, providing a direct and efficient solution for substantial cargo.

Less Than Truckload (LTL)

Less Than Truckload, or LTL, is a cost-saving consolidation service designed for shipments that do not require a full trailer. The logistics provider combines smaller freight from multiple customers into a single truckload, allowing each client to pay only for the space their shipment uses.

While this is a highly economical option for smaller loads, the trade-off involves longer transit times due to the necessary stops for pickup and delivery at various terminals, as well as a higher number of handlings as the shipment is transferred between hubs.

Expedited Trucking

Expedited Trucking is the premier solution for time-critical shipments that require guaranteed delivery. This service provides a dedicated truck and driver, often a team of drivers who can switch off to minimize stops, ensuring the fastest possible transit time. It operates on a strict timeline and is used for urgent parts, emergency deliveries, or high-value goods where any delay would be unacceptable.

This premium service commands a higher price point due to its prioritized nature and commitment to speed and reliability.

Drayage

Drayage is a specialized form of trucking focused on the short-distance movement of cargo, almost exclusively shipping containers. Its primary function is to serve as a crucial link within the intermodal chain, transporting containers from a port to a nearby rail yard (for the long-haul rail journey) or from a rail yard to a final warehouse or distribution center.

This “first and last mile” service is essential for connecting maritime ports and rail hubs with the rest of the land-based transportation network, ensuring the smooth flow of containerized goods.
